Syedna Feer Khan Shujauddin ascended anto the throne of Dawat after the martyrdom of Syedna Qutubuddin Shaheed at a very difficult juncture in the history of Dawat. He was kept in captivity by Aurangzeb. He was taken by Aurangzeb to Jahanabad on later's removal from Gujrat by the emperor Shah Jahan on account of his oppressive policies. From there, he was taken to Lahore, when Aurangzeb was called to lahore to the court of his father. In Lahore, Syedna Shujauddin was kept in a stable of Aurangzeb. After some nights, fire erupted in the stable and all of his horses were burnt. Whole of the stable was destroyed except the dungeon wherein Syedna (R. A) was busy in Ibadah. All people realized that the conflagration was the consequence of the cruelty of Aurangzeb upon the pious leader of Bohras. Due to an imperial order, Aurangzeb was compelled to release Syedna (R. A) and to grant him an honorable and safe return to Ahmedabad. Syedna (R. A) returned to Ahmedabad in Ramazan 1058 AH. After the removal of Aurangzeb from Gujrat, Shaista Khan was made the Governor who provided peace to Moomineen. But in 10058 AH, Gairat Khan was appointed as the governor of Gujrat. When Syedna Shujauddin arrived Ahmedabad safely and with all respect, enemies of Dawat became more jealous and hostile. They backbited to Gairat Khan that Syedna (R. A) had possessed three lakhs of rupees that Bohras had collected to reelease their Dai-Qutubuddin, and ruppees could be taken awy from him if he arrest him. Being covetous, Gairat Khan arrested Syedna (R. A) and demanded from him three lakhs of rupees. Syedna Shujauddin remained in prison for eighteen months and was released only after the order of his release from Jahanabad.
After some time, Shah Murad came to Ahmedabad in 1064 AH. He again arrested Syedna (R. A) who remained in prison for some months. So, Syedna Shujauddin bore great hardship for the sake of Dawat and in the Khidmat of Imam (S. A).
During the period of Syedna Shujauddin (R. A) Emperor Ferdinand of Holy Roman Empire died in 1657 and he was succeeded by his son Leopold. who remained upto 1705 AD.
Ahmedabad remained the centre of Dawat for ninety one years. During the period Doat Kiram guided their followers, the Moomineen to the path of Haq, they spread Ilm of Aale-Mohammed, and led Moomineen to attain the Sa'adat (prosperity) of this world and the next. They established Darse and prepared hundreds of scholars in Islami Fatimi lore. They accomplished all these acheivements facing the challenges of time, bearing severe hardship and rendering great sacrifices. They faced the intrigues of enemies of Dawat, and they were molested by bigoted and oppressive rulers. But, in spite of all these suffering they kept aloft the norms of Dawat and torches of guidance. They were respected greatly in courts of Emperor Akbar and Emperor Jahangir and they ordered their deputies to do so. Some deputies like Farid Khan were very cordial to them.
