When Syedna Abdul Muttalib ascended onto the throne of Dawat, the sultan of Sana'a, Sharif Ibrahim ibne Abdullah intended to capture the fortress of Zimarmer. Syedna immediately made all preparation to defend the fortress. Observing this, the sultan realized his miscalculation about the military strength of Syedna and inclined to make peace with Syedna. Afterwards, the Sultan decided to perform Hajj for the second time. He invited Syedna to be with him on Hajj. Syedna made excuse as he was preoccupied with the affairs of Dawat. The Sultan went on Hajj with much pomp and eclats, but, was captured by the Egyptian army of Turk Mumeleks in Mina. All his treasures and possessions were looted, and he was captured and taken to Egypt where he was imprisoned for three years. After his return to Yemen, the never misbehaved with Syedna.
During the period of Syedna Abdul Muttalib, Mohammed Bin Tughlaq and Feroz Shah Tughlaq (1351-1381) were the Sultan of Delhi Saltanate. Black death devastated Europe during 746/1345-750/1349, and killed a third of population of England. Arab traveller cum geographer Ibne Batuta explored Sahara desert during 753/1352.
